Seventeen: Rhode Island

Northeast Regional train 99 rounds the corner as it prepares to stop at Providence station in the shadow of the Rhode Island state house. Providence is one of those cities that doesn't get enough credit, as far as I am concerned. A lot of effort has gone into that city and there are a lot of places there that are very interesting.

Providence station, for instance, while looking like a concrete box from the outside is actually a nice little space once you get inside. The waiting area has those curved wooden benches that used to be in every major U.S. railroad station. It has a pretty thriving gift shop and a nice cafe where you can get a decent cup of coffee. My only criticism is that I wish it was lighter inside.
