2012 Three: Garrison, New York

We took a trip up the Hudson River this weekend. (Well, we drove by car along side the river.) It was a gorgeous weekend to take in the sights even though the great gray season is fully underway. The weather was warm, so warm I saw some bugs flying around on Feb. 19, the sun was dazzling on the surface of the water and you could really see why so many artists loved to come here and paint the landscape.

Of course, one of the reasons I love the area so much is that wide variety of trains and interesting locations you can take shots. These  are from Garrison, New York on the east bank of the river. Garrison is essentially across the Hudson from West Point. Here are a couple commuter trains heading north and south to and from New York City.
Northbound commuter train out of New York City pauses in Garrison, New York to pick up passengers.
A southbound MTA commuter train passes through the tunnel just north of Garrison with its control car leading the way.
The same northbound as above passing to the east of the tunnel. This shot gives you an idea of how the tracks are laid out here. The tunnel seems more like something a kid would add to a model railroad.
