Texas in color

Luling, Texas
UP AC44CW 6763 leads a loaded coal train south or west through Luling, Texas on Sunday, January 6, 2013. This is a color version of the one I posted a few days ago. The lighting wasn't ideal and I was on the wrong side of the tracks, but I like the way it came out. I had gone down to Luling by mistake. I had read online that there was a place called McNeil that was close to Austin and was where the UP crossed a shortline. I plugged McNeil, Texas into the GPS and ended up about 40 miles south of Austin on the road to San Antonio. But as you can see by the photos this was a case of "alls well is ends well."

Waiting for their turn to go north.
As the UP hauled coal south, a northbound BNSF waited in the hole for its turn to pull its empties out of town. Here we have a study in contrasts, this is another AC44CW. Again the lighting wasn't great but I am happy enough with the way they turned out.

Luling, Texas two.

I am adding this last one just because I took it. As a photo, it lacks a lot of things... including quality. But it does show the two trains passing and to me that gives it some worth.
