Japan, Christmas and Trains
Well, I am not going to make it to 20 states/countries/provinces this year unless some miracle happens. Instead, I figured I would sample some ads from railroad companies around the world instead. First up: Japan.
From what I understand there is a tradition in Japan of young people having a romantic evening on Christmas Eve. Its so widespread Japan Rail built an ad campaign around it which you can sample here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vqocw6y1z6I
The song used in the ad is "Christmas Eve" by Tatsuro Yamashita. According to Wikipedia it debuted in 1983 and has been a staple of the season in Japan ever since. I guess it is their version of the "Christmas Wrapping" by the Waitresses. Anyway, for those who want an English version here it is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aWFq2mD9r2s
