Bay Colony Endures

They have torn up the tracks through Needham to build a rail trail. The bridge over Rte. 128/95 has been torn down and with it the link to Newton Upper Falls. It doesn't matter though because the industry that provided the need for rail traffic has long since gone. Now shopping, white-collar businesses and hotels occupy the places where blue-collar workers used to ply their craft. I am not making an editorial comment here, just noting time has moved on, which is a recurring theme with me. Also known as... take the photo now!

I am happy to report that a sliver of the Bay Colony endures. In Millis, by the old Cliquot/GAF complex, the Bay Colony still bases a road switcher to take cars off the interchange with CSX in Medfield. The Bay Colony has hung on at this location for quite sometime. Occasionally it seems like they have breathed their last only to get one more gasp at life. I don't need to be reminded that he who hesitates is lost. So enjoy, and if you live near Millis, get out there and take a few shots yourself. When will you ever get the chance to see a real live GP in person?
